    Dhofar University holds the second international forum on frankincense

    The University of Dhofar is organizing the second international forum on frankincense under the slogan “In order to advance the development of treatment with medicinal plants” in the period from (3-4 September 2023) with the participation of scientists, academics and researchers from universities and institutes affiliated with more than 13 countries, along with many specialists in governmental authorities and some Omani universities, and the forum gives a participatory advantage to a number of researchers and postgraduate students.     Dhofar University participated in a symposium The Roles of Private Higher Education Institutions in Community Service

    Dhofar University participated in a symposium (The Roles of Private Education Institutions in Community Service and Transformation to a Knowledge Society) organized by the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation and Oman Vision 2040 on Monday 10/7/2023 in Muscat, during the symposium, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Amer bin Ali Al-Rawas, signed an agreement with Her Excellency Prof. Dr. Rahma bint Ibrahim Al-Mahrouqi, Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation, to provide scholarships to the Ministry of Higher Education, and these grants represent highlighting the efforts of educational institutions in the Sultanate in serving the community.

    Dhofar University signed a cooperation agreement with the Environment Authority

    On the sidelines of the national campaign to combat migratory birds in Dhofar Governorate, Dhofar University and the Environment Authority have signed a cooperation agreement in the field of research, human resources training, organizing seminars, and research-based lectures to achieve the desired national objectives. His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Bin Ali Al Amri, Chairman of the Authority, signed the agreement, and Prof. Amer Bin Ali Al Rawas, Vice Chancellor of Dhofar University, signed on behalf of the university.

    FP Open Day – 30th May 2023

    Dhofar University Foundation Program celebrated “FP Open Day” on 30th May 2023, showcasing the talents of FP students through various extra-curricular activities, in the presence of Dy. Vice Chancellor, FP Director, College Deans, Department Heads, Teachers, students, parents, and sponsors. The FP Administration, and English Club Committee members’ meticulous plan and coordination with FP students in selecting, mentoring and presenting the budding talents of FP on stage gained an awesome appreciation from the audience. By taking time off from the routine, FP Open Day provided an opportunity for the FP student community to come out of their shells to communicate with confidence.     Dhofar University Welcomes International Exchange Students

    The Vice Chancellor of Dhofar University, Professor Amer Al Rawas, met an intern student from Istanbul Technical University, Turkey, as part of the IAESTE program. The student, who will undergo training program at OQ and Dhofar University, represents the university’s ongoing commitment to internationalization and the provision of technical skills, diverse learning experiences, and multicultural knowledge to its students. According to Professor Amer, the university is pleased to welcome the intern and to provide him with this unique and valuable learning experience.     Exploring Salalah’s Future: Dhofar University Engages with Ministry of Housing and International Consultancy Firms

    Dhofar University’s College of Engineering recently welcomed distinguished guests, including representatives from the Ministry of Housing, the renowned global planning and design consultancy firm Sasaki, and the expert Engineering, Planning, and Infrastructure consultancy firm Cundall. The purpose of their visit was to showcase and engage with local stakeholders regarding three distinct masterplan proposals for the Salalah waterfront and development plans for the greater Salalah area. During the visit, the guests presented their proposals, engaging in fruitful discussions and actively seeking feedback from Dhofar University’s faculty and students. This collaborative exchange enabled the visitors to receive valuable insights, address questions, and take note of the feedback provided by the university community.

    Dhofar University Vice Chancellor Meets the Student Advisory Council

    The Vice Chancellor of Dohfar University, Professor Amer bin Ali Al Rawas, convened with the Student Advisory Council, where he was briefed on the Council’s achievements for the Academic Year 2022-2023. Professor Al Rawas also discussed some issues related to the activities of the Council.     SCC Conducts a Lecture on “Learn to Learn and Prepare for Examinations Without Fear or Stress”

    The Student’s Counseling Center organized an awareness lecture on Monday, 24/05/2023 for the University students entitled “Learning to learn and prepare for examinations without fear or stress” to prepare them for the approaching final examinations for this semester, Spring 2022-23. The lecture was presented by Dr. Faris Al-Shubiri, Professor at the Faculty of Commerce and Business Administration and the Director of Postgraduate Studies Department, and Dr. Samir Hamami, Head of Management Information Systems at the Faculty of Commerce and Business Administration. Dr. Samir Hamami spoke about the importance of attending lectures and stated that the information gained by the students during the lecture helps them in comprehending, recalling the information and answering the questions.     Student Counseling Center Conducts Training Programme on Self-Management Skills

    The Student Counselling Centre organized a two-day (May 16-18, 2023) training programme to promote and develop the self-management skills of the University’s students. Prof. Nasser Syed Abdul Rashid, Director of the Centre and Professor of Psychological Counselling at the University, and Dr. Mosleh Majali, Associate Professor of Psychological Counselling presented in the event. Students from various Colleges and the Foundation Programme at the University participated in the programme. The Programme addresses in the first part the concept of self and the concept of self-management, the types of physical, cognitive, social, emotional and moral self-management, and the steps and skills of self-management that begin with the discovery and knowledge of self (self-consciousness) that includes self-knowledge, abilities and possibilities, strengths and weaknesses, self-acceptance, self-satisfaction, and access to self-fulfilment that are the most important indicators of mental health.     The Third Training Program for Salalah Vocational College about Human Resources Management

    As part of the collaborative agreement between the College of Commerce and Business Administration and Continuing Education Center at Dhofar University at Dhofar University and the Vocational College in Salalah, Dr. Moaz Nagib Gharib, Head of the Master program of Management, conducted a training workshop on “Human Resource Management” for department heads and administrative staff at the Vocational College in Salalah on1 June, 2023. The workshop covered a wide range of topics, including: the concepts and importance of human resource management, its stages of development, and the most important functions of human resource management such as planning, recruitment, training, and performance appraisal in a contemporary concept.
